The Nursing Clinic of Battle Creek
What began in 1988 as a small nursing clinic operated by two doctors (Dr. Collins and Dr. Ptacin who remain the volunteer Medical Directors) and a nurse, has grown to become a highly utilized program of what is now known as Community HealthCare Connections. The Nursing Clinic has helped thousands of Calhoun County residents access medical care over the last 25 years. Although the Nursing Clinic has undergone many transitions in that timeframe, the focus has remained on providing medical care to the uninsured who cannot afford it. The volunteer medical professionals who dedicate their time and talent each day to help those in need teach us that every individual in this community is valued and important.
The Nursing Clinic will see any adult patient over age 18 who is uninsured or in order to provide them with the acute medical treatment and navigation services they need. The Nursing Clinic will also see any insured patient at least one time. If the patient has medical insurance, we will provide them with the urgent medical needs they seek, while also helping get them connected to their doctor and make a follow-up appointment for them before they leave our office.
CHC and the Nursing Clinic of Battle Creek help to enhance the exciting services in the community by ensuring that none of the services offered are duplicated. This means that we work closely with other organizations and partners to only provide what is not readily provided or available for those we serve. We aim to fill in the gaps and provide resources that cannot be found otherwise.
